Railway Timetabling System (RTS)
The Product
DeltaRail is supporting London Underground with their scheduling activity through the provision of a next generation suite of planning tools known as the Railway Timetabling System (RTS).
London Underground operates one of the busiest urban rail networks in the world, with some 12,000 staff running services across its 11 lines and carrying over 3.5 million passengers a day. This level of organisation requires detailed planning, from the service aspirations for frequency and opening hours, down to the planned movements of stock and staff. Our combination of railway operations expertise, together with a track record of software development allows us to produce a comprehensive timetable planning and production system.
The underground is regularly enhanced and modernised, with the introduction of new rolling stock, signalling systems and route extensions. This has led to an increased demand for scheduling systems such as the RTS which provide analytical support to the scheduling team, enabling them to build robust and comprehensive plans.
The Benefits
Key benefits of the Railway Timetabling System include:
• Extensive route and capacity planning across the network containing strong interaction with the mainline routes and numerous complex junctions.
• Publication and dissemination of plans.
• Constraint optimisation to automate the planning of platform capacity.
• Automatic scheduling of core timetable patterns.
• Calendar functionality for all year planning and schedule management.
• Full configuration of reference data for ease of maintenance.
