DeltaRail Extends Support Arrangements for Network Rail

DeltaRail Group Limited has started work on four major contracts for Network Rail, with a total value of about £6 million.

A three-year Technical Support Services Agreement will see DeltaRail provide support to four Network Rail systems:

  • Integrated Electronic Control Centres (IECC). IECC is Network Rail's comprehensive, real-time signalling command and control computer system, currently used at eleven major signalling centres. About 60% of all train movements involve passage through IECC controlled areas.
  • Solid State Interlocking (SSI). A real-time, computer-based interlocking system which ensures the safe separation of trains.
  • Radio Electronic Token Block (RETB). A radio signalling system suited to remote infrastructure, which despatches trains on bi-directional single lines at remote locations.
  • DeltaRail's Remote Condition Monitoring systems, WheelChex and PanChex, which monitor the condition of train wheels and pantographs. These systems provide information via DeltaRail proprietary software to assist Network Rail in protecting the track and electrical power infrastructure.
  • Under separate contracts DeltaRail will also carry out three significant IECC signalling control system enhancements, to achieve improved train regulation. One of these comprises the development, piloting and roll-out to IECC sites of a new version of the Timetable Processor Subsystem, which allows the Network Rail timetable to be configured to suit short term variations.

Richard Waterman, Director of Rail Operations and Consultancy at DeltaRail, will oversee the contracts. He commented: "These contracts confirm the strength of our ongoing working relationship with Network Rail, and our skill at maintaining and enhancing systems that are relied on by a key customer in some of its business-critical areas."
